Nirmala Sitharaman joined Narendra Modi Cabinet in 2014 and is currently the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs. She was previously the Minister of Defense from 2017 to 2019. Having joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2008, she quickly rose to join the national executive. In 2010, she became party spokesperson and remains a full-time party worker. Ms. Sitharaman holds a Master’s in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
